A person has SLE if any 4 out of 11 symptoms are present simultaneously or serially on two separate occasions.

1. Serositis
2. Oral ulcers
3. Arthritis
4. Photosensitivity
5. Blood disorder
6. Renal disorder
7. Antinuclear antibody test positive
8. Immunologic disorder
9. Neurologic disorder:
10. Malar rash
11. Discoid rash
